Tony Astolfi is a software engineer and musician who lives in the Boston Metrowest area. He grew up in Littleton, MA and studied computer science as an undergrad at UMass Amherst. Tony currently works in Natick, MA at the MathWorks.
Tony has been hacking code on various computers since 5th grade, starting in BASIC on a Texas Instruments 99/4a. After taking all the programming classes offered by the Littleton school system, he organized an independent study to learn C++. Tony wrote several games in high school, including a car racing game that used a tile-based 3D texture mapping engine and sprite-based graphics.Tony started playing guitar his senior year in high school. He was largely self-taught through college, honing in on flat picked and finger style acoustic guitar. In 1999, Tony began to study guitar with Brooks Williams. He has performed at many open mic nights and has opened for Brooks several times. His current interest in music is traditional Irish session tunes, played on guitar and mandolin.
